Dr Iyer delivered a remarkable lecture on “𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞: 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚,” joining a distinguished list of past medal recipients who have pioneered advancements in corneal research.

The Meibom-Mooren Medal is named in honor of two German ophthalmologists who made exceptional contributions to the field of cornea in the 1600s and 1800s. Dr Heinrich Meibom is renowned for his work describing the oil-producing Meibomian glands of the eyelids, whose dysfunction ( Meibomian gland dysfunction) is something ophthalmologists encounter and treat daily. Dr Albert Mooren, identified the rare yet critical Mooren’s ulcer, that has saved countless eyes through timely diagnosis and intervention. These pioneers of cornea set a foundation that continues to guide modern eye care.
