HIS JOURNEY

The doctor who stayed when things got hard

His foundation was laid at Topiwala National Medical College, Mumbai, where he graduated in 1997. What followed was a path that deliberately took the harder route.

Distinction in anatomy. Distinction in biochemistry. A pattern that would define everything after.

Postgraduate training at the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, where he stood first in Ophthalmology across the entire university at his MS examinations in 2002 — with distinctions along the way. A DNB in Ophthalmology followed in 2003.

He joined Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai, in 2004 and became one of its senior-most cornea specialists. From 2015–2016 he served as International Consultant in Cornea & Anterior Segment at CMER Dennis Lam Eye Hospital, Shenzhen, China — returning with a broader view of what good eye care actually looks like.

Today, he is the Medical Director & Co-Founder of CODE Eye Care in T Nagar, Chennai. Patients come to him with failed grafts, chemical burns and limbal stem cell deficiency — conditions that have stumped others.

India Ambassador and Board member of the Tear Film & Ocular Surface Society (TFOS).

Co-developer of the E-PIX classification system for acute ocular chemical injuries.

Among the early Indian surgeons to publish on paediatric DMEK and advanced anterior segment surgery in children.

Co-organising secretary of OSKON across four editions — 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2023.

The work is precise, often painstaking, and exactly where he chooses to be.
